TARIK GOUHIER
I am broadly interested in combining theoretical models and statistical analyses of empirical data to elucidate the relationship between oceanographic processes and ecological patterns at the population, community and ecosystem levels.
KIRSTEN GRORUD-COLVERT
I am broadly interested in the ecology of marine systems, the impact of humans on marine communities, the response of marine organisms to full protection inside marine reserves, and the effective communication of scientific data to inform management conversations. Past and present studies include global effects of marine reserves determined via meta-analysis, larval supply to marine reserves of the upper Florida Keys, differences in adult fish communities at these marine reserves and fished areas outside, diversity and distribution of larval and juvenile fishes as they relate to marine reserve design, life history factors influencing the survival of newly settled fishes, and behavioral observations of juvenile and adult fishes. As the Director of the Science of Marine Reserves Project with PISCO, I have been involved in the creation of multiple resources for communicating marine reserve science, including educational booklets and web tools geared towards diverse national and international audiences.
